Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Stand up in Prayer by night, all but a small part of it; 2 For half the night, or reduce some from it. 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 Behold, We shall bestow upon thee a weighty message 5 surely the first part of the night is heavier in tread, more upright in speech, 6 True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties: 7 Remember the Name of your Lord and dedicate yourself devoutly to Him. 8 He is the Lord of the east and the west, there is no deity but Him, so take Him as your Guardian. 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 And leave Me with [the matter of] the deniers, those of ease [in life], and allow them respite a little. 11 We have heavy fetters and a blazing Fire in store for them; 12 and food that chokes, and a painful chastisement, 13 On the Day when the earth with all its mountains quake and the mountains become heaps of shifting sand. 14 Surely We have sent to you a Messenger as a witness over you, just as We had sent a Messenger to Pharaoh. 15 But the Pharaoh disobeyed the apostle; so We seized him with a grievous punishment. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 the Day whose severity shall cause the heaven to split asunder? Allah's promise is ever bound to be fulfilled. 18 Surely this is a Reminder; so let him who will take unto his Lord a way. 19
