The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
A caller supplicated about a punishment to fall on 1 Upon the disbelievers, which none can avert, 2 (A Penalty) from Allah, Lord of the Ways of Ascent. 3 The angels and the Ruh [Jibrael (Gabriel)] ascend to Him in a Day the measure whereof is fifty thousand years, 4 So be thou patient with a sweet patience; 5 behold, they see it as if far off; 6 but We see it is nigh. 7 On that Day the heaven shall become like molten copper, 8 and the mountains will become like tufts of wool, 9 no loyal friend shall question loyal friend, 10 Though they will be given sight of them. The guilty man will long to be able to ransom himself from the punishment of that day at the price of his children 11 His wife and his brother, 12 And his kindred who sheltered him, 13 and whosoever is in the earth, all together, so that then it might deliver him. 14 By no means! Verily, it will be the Fire of Hell! 15 tearing away his skin! 16 calling him who drew back and turned away, 17 Who amasses and then hoards. 18 ۞ Truly man was created very impatient;- 19 bewailing when evil befalls him, 20 when good visits him, grudging, 21 except those who are steadfast 22 Those who are constant in their prayer 23 They are those who assign a certain share of their property 24 For those who beg, and for the needy who cannot even ask. 25 who confirm the Day of Doom 26 And those who fear the torment of their Lord, 27 Verily the torment of their Lord is not a thing to feel secure from. 28 And those who protect their private organs (from adultery). 29 Except with their wives and the (women slaves and captives) whom their right hands possess, for (then) they are not to be blamed, 30 but those who go beyond that limit are transgressors; 31 and those who fulfil their trusts and their covenants, 32 And those who stand by their testimony 33 And those who keep a guard on their prayer, 34 Such shall dwell in the Gardens (i.e. Paradise) honoured. 35
