The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 But they will soon come to know. 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 and when the mountains are made to vanish as if they had been a mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 The destination of the rebellious. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 only burning despair and ice-cold darkness: 25 Reward proportioned (to their evil deeds). 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
