The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 And the second followeth it, 7 hearts will undergo terrible trembling, 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 I shall guide you to your Lord so that you may perhaps have fear of Him". 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 Allah therefore seized him, in the punishment of this world and the Hereafter. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
