He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 uplifted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 Man is (self-)destroyed: how ungrateful! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 How We pour water in showers 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olives and palms 29 And thick gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 on a Day when everyone will [want to] flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
