The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to the diminishers, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do those not think that they shall be raised up 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 The day when (all) mankind stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! Truly, the Record (writing of the deeds) of the Fujjar (disbelievers, sinners, evil-doers and wicked) is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day to those who belied it, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 for, none gives the lie to it but such as are wont to transgress against all that is [and are] immersed in sin: 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Indeed! On that Day a barrier will be set between them and their Lord, 15 Then they shall roast in Hell, 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 No indeed! Verily, the deeds of the virtuous shall be in the record of the exalted ones. 18 and what will make you understand what the 'Illiyyin is? -- 19 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 Thou wilt know in their faces the radiance of delight. 24 They will be given to drink [pure] wine [which was] sealed. 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 With it will be (given) a mixture of Tasnim: 27 a fountain at which those brought near (to their Lord) drink. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 But on this Day the believers will laugh at the unbelievers 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
