۞ And We verily gave Abraham of old his proper course, and We were Aware of him, 51 He said to his father and to his nation: 'What, are these the statues to which you cling' 52 They said, 'We found our fathers serving them.' 53 He said: assuredly ye, ye and your fathers, have been in error manifest. 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 He said, “In fact, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, the One Who created them; and I am of those who testify to it.” 56 By the Lord, I will devise a plan against your deities after you have gone away and turned your backs!" 57 So he broke them into pieces, except the chief of them, that haply they may return to it. 58 They said: "Who has done this to our aliha (gods)? He must indeed be one of the wrong-doers." 59 They said: We heard a youth make mention of them, who is called Abraham. 60 Their chiefs said, "Bring him before the eyes of the people and let them testify that he has spoken against the idols." 61 (On Abraham's arrival) they said: "Abraham, are you he who has done this to our gods?" 62 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Nay, this one, the biggest of them (idols) did it. Ask them, if they can speak!" 63 Thereupon they realized their own foolishness and said, "We ourselves are wrong-doers". 64 Then crestfallen (they confessed): "Truly, as you know, they cannot speak." 65 [Ibrahim (Abraham)] said: "Do you then worship besides Allah, things that can neither profit you, nor harm you? 66 Fie on you and those you worship besides God! Will you not understand?" 67 They said, "Burn him and protect your gods, If ye do (anything at all)!" 68 'O Fire' We said, 'be coolness and safety for Abraham' 69 And they desired a war on him, but We made them the greatest losers. 70 for We saved him and Lot, [his brother's son, by guiding them] to the land which We have blessed for all times to come. 71 And We bestowed on him Isaac and, as an additional gift, (a grandson), Jacob, and We made righteous men of every one (of them). 72 We appointed them as leaders to guide the people through Our command and sent them revelation to strive for good deeds, worship their Lord, and pay religious tax. Both of them were Our worshipping servants. 73 To Lot We gave wisdom and knowledge and delivered him from the city which practiced abomination. They were indeed a wicked people. 74 and We admitted him into Our mercy; he was of the righteous. 75
