The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen him who restrains 9 A servant when he prays? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
