The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 On a grievous day, 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Sijjin is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 Nay! But on their hearts is the Ran (covering of sins and evil deeds) which they used to earn. 14 Nay, verily, from [the grace of] their Sustainer shall they on that Day be debarred; 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 Nay, verily the record of the Righteous is (preserved) in 'Illiyin. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 A Register inscribed. 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 BEHOLD, those who have abandoned themselves to sin are wont to laugh at such as have attained to faith 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent as guardians over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 [for, resting in paradise] on couches, they will look on [and say to themselves]: 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
