The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And We have made the night a covering. 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 (the sun) as a shining torch 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 For the exorbitant a receptacle. 22 In which they will remain for ages [unending]. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 , A fitting reward. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
