Jonah, too, was one of the Messengers. 139 When he ran away (like a slave from captivity) to the ship (fully) laden, 140 And lots were cast (when a storm overtook them), he was rejected, (and thrown overboard). 141 Then a (big) fish swallowed him and he had done an act worthy of blame. 142 And had he not been of those who exalt Allah, 143 he would indeed have remained in its belly till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead: 144 ۞ So We cast him, sick, on a barren shore, 145 and caused a creeping plant to grow over him [out of the barren soil]. 146 And [then] We sent him [once again] to [his people,] a hundred thousand [souls] or more: 147 And they came to believe; so We allowed them to enjoy the good things of life for an age. 148 AND NOW ask them to enlighten thee: Has thy Sustainer daughters, whereas they would have [only] sons? 149 Did We create the angels as females the while they witnessed?” 150 Behold, it is one of their fabrications that they say: 151 "Allah has begotten off spring or children (i.e. angels are the daughters of Allah)?" And, verily, they are liars! 152 Has He chosen daughters in preference to sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How judge ye? 154 Will you not then reflect? 155 Or have you a clear authority? 156 Then bring your Book if you are truthful! 157 And they imagine kinship between him and the jinn, whereas the jinn know well that they will be brought before (Him). 158 Hallowed be Allah from that which they ascribe to Him. 159 all of them except the chosen servants of Allah. 160 Lo! verily, ye and that which ye worship, 161 Cannot lead astray [turn away from Him (Allah) anyone of the believers], 162 unless it be such as rushes towards the blazing fire [of his own accord]! 163 As for us, there is none but has an appointed station. 164 Verily we range ourselves in rows (as humble servants) 165 and, verily, we too extol His limitless glory!" 166 And indeed they used to say: 167 “If we had some advice from the earlier generations,” 168 We would have been the chosen creatures of God." 169 But when it came to them, they rejected it. They shall soon come to know (the end of such an attitude). 170 We decreed that Our Messenger servants 171 that they shall certainly be succoured, 172 And surely, only Our army will be victorious. 173 Therefore turn away from them till a time, 174 and see them [for what they are]; and in time they [too] will come to see [what they do not see now]. 175 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 176 Then, when it descends into their courtyard (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned! 177 So turn (away) from them for a while, 178 And see, for they are going to see. 179 Too glorious is your Lord, the Lord of power, for what they ascribe to Him. 180 And Peace on the messengers! 181 And all praise is to Allah, the Lord Of The Creation. 182

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
