The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 Then man will have no power or any helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 And it is not amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 And I (too) will make a scheme. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
