(Recount to them about the time) when Your Lord called Moses: "Go to the wrong-doing people, 10 the people of Pharaoh: do they have no fear?" 11 He said: "My Lord! Verily, I fear that they will belie me, 12 and my chest will become constricted and my tongue will not be loosed (in my speech), therefore, send to Aaron. 13 They have charged me [with a crime] for which I am afraid they will kill me." 14 [Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening. 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 (Saying): Let the Children of Israel go with us. 17 He (Pharaoh) said (to Moses): 'Did We not bring you up when you were a child? And have you not spent years of your life amongst us? 18 And thou didst the deed thou didst, being one of the ungrateful!' 19 Moses replied, "I did that when I was one of the misguided, 20 "So I fled from you when I feared you. But my Lord has granted me Hukman (i.e. religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood), and appointed me as one of the Messengers. 21 And this is the favor with which you oblige me: You have made the Israelites your slaves. 22 Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?" 23 (Moses) said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, if ye had but sure belief. 24 [Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?" 25 He said: Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers of old. 26 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Verily, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a madman!" 27 Moses continued: "(He is) the Lord of the east and the west, and all between them. If you only had any understanding!" 28 'If you take any other god except myself' he (Pharaoh) replied, 'you shall be thrown into prison' 29 Said he: "Even if I should bring about before thee something that clearly shows the truth?" 30 He (Pharaoh) replied: 'Show us your sign, if you are of the truthful' 31 So (Moses) cast his staff, and lo, it turned into a living serpent. 32 And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers. 33
