The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the setting star, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 And he does not say anything by his own desire. 3 It is but a divine revelation, which is revealed to him. 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 Of might, he (Gabriel) stood firm 6 While he was on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then the Spectacle became closer, and came down in full view. 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – was with body and soul.) 9 So Allah divinely revealed to His bondman, whatever He divinely revealed. 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 Are you, then, going to contend with him regarding what he sees with his eyes? 12 And indeed he did see the Spectacle again. 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 Near it is the Garden of Abode. 15 When the tree was covered with a covering, 16 The sight (of Prophet Muhammad SAW) turned not aside (right or left), nor it transgressed beyond (the) limit (ordained for it). 17 Indeed he saw the supreme signs of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, 19 And Manat the other third? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 That is indeed an unjust division. 22 These are only names which you and your fathers have invented. No authority was sent down by God for them. They only follow conjecture and wish-fulfilment, even though guidance had come to them already from their Lord. 23 Or shall man have whatever he fancies? 24 All that is in the life to come and all that is in this life belongs only to God. 25
