Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ NAY! I call to witness the Day of Resurrection! 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man imagine that We will not be able to bring his bones together again? 3 Nay, We are able to put together in perfect order the very tips of his fingers. 4 But man desires to persist in his evil ways. 5 He asks, “When will be the Day of Resurrection?” 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon will be eclipsed. 8 And sun and moon are united, 9 on that Day will man say: “Whither the refuge?” 10 No! There is no refuge! 11 unto thy Lord that Day is the recourse. 12 On that Day the human shall be informed of his former and latter deeds. 13 nay, but man shall against himself be an eye-witness, 14 Though he puts forth his excuses. 15 [Prophet], do not move your tongue too fast in your attempt to learn this revelation: 16 Surely its collection and recitation are Our responsibility. 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 And neglect the hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 gazing upon their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking. 25 But, when (the soul) reaches the collar bone 26 And it will be said: "Who can cure him and save him from death?" 27 and he knows that it is the time of parting; 28 and leg is intertwined with leg, 29 On that day, the herding will be only towards your Lord. 30
