He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 you eagerly attended to him -- 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 And he feareth 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and pious. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and Abba (herbage, etc.), 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
