The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 and the mountains have been taken, 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 and when the girl-child buried alive shall be asked: 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 When the scrolls are laid open; 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 by the night when it approaches 17 And by the morning when it shineth forth, 18 Verily it is a Word brought by a messenger honoured, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 And (O people) your companion (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) is not a madman; 22 Surely he beheld Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Whither then go ye? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
