The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 - The piercing Star! 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 Let the human reflect of what he is created. 5 He is created of water pouring forth, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 And it is not amusement. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal you gently with them for a while. 17
