Recite unto them the story of Abraham: 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted." 71 He said: Do they hear you when you call? 72 Or do they benefit or harm you? 73 They said: "No. But we found our fathers doing so." 74 Said [Abraham]: "Have you, then, ever considered what it is that you have been worshipping 75 You and your fathers? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 "Who gives me food and drink, 79 “And when I fall ill, so it is He Who heals me.” 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 Who, I hope, will forgive me my sins on the Day of Judgement." 82 My Lord! Bestow Hukman (religious knowledge, right judgement of the affairs and Prophethood) on me, and join me with the righteous; 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 Forgive me and my father: He was surely among those who went astray. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 Except him who brings to Allah a clean heart [clean from Shirk (polytheism) and Nifaq (hypocrisy)]. 89 And Paradise shall be brought forward for the godfearing, 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 Beside Allah? Can they succour you or succour themselves? 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 no loyal friend. 101 O that we might return again, and be among the believers!' 102 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 103 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 104
