The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ (Allah) Most Gracious! 1 has taught the Koran. 2 He created man 3 He taught distinctness. 4 The sun and moon revolve to a computation; 5 And the herbs (or stars) and the trees both prostrate. 6 He raised the heavens and set up everything in balance, 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 Always measure with justice and do not give short measure. 9 He positioned the earth for all the creatures: 10 On it are fruits and palm-trees with sheathed clusters [of dates], 11 grain with its husk and aromatic herbs. 12 Which of the bounties of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 13 He created man from sounding clay like unto pottery, 14 And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire. 15 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 16 (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He has let forth the two seas, they meet together, 19 Between them is a barrier which none of them can transgress. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 From the two oceans comes pearls and coral. 22 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 25
