The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Judgement is an appointed time - 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 a goal for all who are wont to transgress the bounds of what is right! 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, 25 , A fitting reward. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 having given the lie to Our messages one and all: 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
