When the messengers came to Lot and his family, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 And we have come to you with the truth, and we are most surely truthful. 64 Depart with your family in a part of the night and walk behind them and let none of you turn round. Go to a place where you are commanded' 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They replied: 'Have we not forbidden you (the people of) the worlds' 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 By your life O dear Prophet (Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him) – they are indeed straying in their intoxication. 72 But the (mighty) Blast overtook them before morning, 73 And We made the upside there of downwards, and We rained on them stones of baked clay. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 And indeed that township is upon a road still in use. 76 surely in that is a sign for believers. 77 And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers. 78 On them, too, We took vengeance, and they are both on a clear roadway. 79
