[AND the tribe of] Thamud gave the lie to [one of God's] message-hearers 141 When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 142 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you 143 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 144 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 145 Will you be left secure in this, 146 In gardens and watersprings. 147 And green crops (fields etc.) and date-palms with soft spadix. 148 And you hew houses out of the mountains exultingly; 149 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 150 And do not obey the order of the transgressors, 151 "Who make mischief in the land, and mend not (their ways)." 152 They said: Thou art but one of the bewitched; 153 Thou art but a mortal like us. So bring some token if thou art of the truthful. 154 He said, “This is the she-camel – one day shall be her turn to drink, and on the other appointed day, shall be your turn.” 155 Do not touch her with malice so that punishment of a dreadful day seizes you' 156 But they ham-strung her: then did they become full of regrets. 157 So the torment overtook them. Verily, in this is indeed a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 158 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 159
