The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 and gently take it away; 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 Then press forward as in a race, 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 Hearts will pound loudly on that day, 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: shall we indeed be restored to the first state, 10 "Even after we are crumbled bones?" 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa:- 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 Saying: "I am your lord, most high", 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
