The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 When the she-camels, ten months with young, are left untended; 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 the runners, the sinkers, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 Assuredly he beheld him in the horizon manifest. 23 And Muhammad is not a withholder of [knowledge of] the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 but will you shall not, unless God wills, the Lord of all Being. 29
