The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, 1 And the day resplendent 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 Verily, (the ends) ye strive for are diverse. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 But save him who fears 17 one who gives his wealth to become purified, 18 And who hath no favour from anyone to recompense. 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
