The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will tremble, shivering. 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In gardens of delight; 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 along with fruits of their choice; 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And there will be fair ones large eyed. 22 The likes unto pearls hidden. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 and amid the extended shade 30 And water everflowing. 31 And plenty of fruits. 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins. 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
