Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Say, [O Muhammad], "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur'an. 1 ‘That guides to the path of goodness, we have therefore accepted faith in it; and we shall never ascribe anyone as a partner to our Lord.’ 2 'And exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, He has taken neither a wife, nor a son (or offspring or children). 3 'And that the foolish among us [i.e. Iblis (Satan) or the polytheists amongst the jinns] used to utter against Allah that which was wrong and not right. 4 'But we do think that no man or spirit should say aught that untrue against Allah. 5 But some men used to seek refuge with some jinns, and this increased their waywardness; 6 'And they thought as you thought, that Allah will not send any Messenger (to mankind or jinns). 7 "'And [so it happened] that we reached out towards heaven: but we found it filled with mighty guards and flames, 8 And we used to sit on places (high) therein to listen. But he who listeneth now findeth a flame in wait for him; 9 we cannot tell if this bodes evil to those who dwell on earth or whether their Lord intends to guide them. 10 As for us, some of us are righteous and others are not. We have all followed different ways. 11 'And we think that we cannot escape (from the punishment of) Allah in the earth, nor can we escape (from the punishment) by flight. 12 And when we heard the guidance, we believed therein, and whoso believeth in his Lord, he feareth neither loss nor oppression. 13 and that “among us some are Muslims (Those who have submitted to Allah), and some of us are deviant. So those who became Muslims found the Right Course; 14 And as for the deviators, for Hell they shall be fuel. 15 And [Allah revealed] that if they had remained straight on the way, We would have given them abundant provision 16 so that We might try them through this bounty. Whoso turns away from the remembrance of his Lord, He will cause him to suffer a grievous chastisement; 17 And the places of worship are only for Allah, so pray not unto anyone along with Allah. 18 Do not prostrate before anyone other than Him. When the servant of God (Muhammad) preached (his message) the jinn would all crowd around him. 19
