The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 and by the angels who regulate the affairs, (you will certainly be resurrected). 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then he gathered and cried aloud, 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
