At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me). 62 "We have come to you with news," they said, "of what your people doubt; 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 So travel with thy household in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs. Let none of you turn round, but go whither ye are commanded. 65 And We made known to him this decree that the wrongdoers were to be utterly cut off in the morning. 66 Then came the people of the city, exulting at the news. 67 [Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me. 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 Then the (Awful) Cry overtook them at the sunrise. 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Behold! in this are Signs for those who by tokens do understand. 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Surely, in that there is a sign for those who believe. 77 And the dwellers in the wood indeed were evil-doers. 78 and We took vengeance on them. The two of them were upon a roadway manifest. 79
