The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ ALIF LAM MIM. 1 Do men fancy that they will be left just upon their declaring, “We believe”, and they will not be tested? 2 Lo! We tested those who were before you. Thus Allah knoweth those who are sincere, and knoweth those who feign. 3 Or do those who do ill-deeds imagine that they can outstrip Us? Evil (for them) is that which they decide. 4 Let him who looks forward to meeting Allah know that Allah's appointed term will surely come to pass. He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 5 And whoever strives only strives for [the benefit of] himself. Indeed, Allah is free from need of the worlds. 6 And as for those who believe and do good works, We shall remit from them their evil deeds and shall repay them the best that they did. 7 And We have enjoined on man to be good and dutiful to his parents, but if they strive to make you join with Me (in worship) anything (as a partner) of which you have no knowledge, then obey them not. Unto Me is your return, and I shall tell you what you used to do. 8 And as for those who believe and do good works, We verily shall make them enter in among the righteous. 9 And among men is he who says: We believe in Allah; but when he is persecuted in (the way of) Allah he thinks the persecution of men to be as the chastisement of Allah; and if there come assistance from your Lord, they would most certainly say: Surely we were with you. What! is not Allah the best knower of what is in the breasts of mankind. 10 And indeed Allah will make known the believers, and indeed He will expose the hypocrites. 11 Those who deny the truth say to the faithful, "Follow our way, and we will bear the burden of your sins." But they will bear none of their sins. They are surely lying. 12 And most certainly they shall carry their own burdens, and other burdens with their own burdens, and most certainly they shall be questioned on the resurrection day as to what they forged. 13
