A token unto them is the dead earth. We revive it, and We bring forth from it grain so that they eat thereof; 33 and We made therein gardens of palms and vines, and therein We caused fountains to gush forth, 34 So that they may eat of its fruit; yet it was not done by their hands. Then why do they not acknowledge thanks? 35 Glory be to Him, Who has created all the pairs of that which the earth produces, as well as of their own (human) kind (male and female), and of that which they know not. 36 A token unto them is night. We strip it of the day, and lo! they are in darkness. 37 The sun runs to its fixed resting place; that is the decree of the Almighty, the Knower. 38 We have ordained phases for the moon until finally it becomes like an old date-stalk. 39 It is not for the sun to catch up with the moon, nor does the night surpass the day; and each one of them floats in its orbit. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their seed in the laden ship, 41 And We have created for them of the like thereunto, so on them they ride. 42 Had We wanted, We could have drowned them and nothing would have been able to help or rescue them 43 Except as a mercy from Us and provision for a time. 44 And [yet,] when they are told, "Beware of [God's insight into] all that lies open before you and all that is hidden from you, so that you might be graced with His mercy," [most men choose to remain deaf;] 45 And never came an Ayah from among the Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it. 46 And when it is said to them: “Spend (in the Way of Allah) out of the sustenance that Allah has provided you,” the unbelievers say to the believers: “Shall we feed him whom, Allah would have fed, had He so wished?” Say: “You are in evident error.” 47 And they say: When will this promise be fulfilled, if ye are truthful? 48 They await only but a single Saihah (shout, etc.), which will seize them while they are disputing! 49 Then they would not be able to make a will, or go back to their people. 50
