Therefore continue to give warning, for by the grace of your Lord, you are not a soothsayer or a madman. 29 Or say they: a poet for whom we wait some adverse turn of fortune! 30 Tell them: "Keep on expecting, I am expecting with you." 31 Or do their intellects bid them do this? Or are they an insolent people? 32 Or do they say: "He himself has composed this [message]"? Nay, but they are not willing to believe! 33 Let them bring a discourse like thereunto, if they say sooth. 34 [Or do they deny the existence of God?] Have they themselves been created without anything [that might have caused their creation]? or were they, perchance, their own creators? 35 Did they create the heavens and the earth? No! They have no faith. 36 Or do they have the treasures of your Lord, or are they the authority? 37 Or, do they have a ladder on which they listen? Then let any of them that has listened bring a clear authority. 38 Or has He daughters while you have sons? 39 Or is it that you ask of them any recompense so that they should fear to be weighed down under the burden of debt? 40 Or that the Unseen in it their hands, and they write it down? 41 Or are they planning a conspiracy? So the conspiracy will befall only upon the disbelievers. 42 Or do they have a God besides Allah? Purity is to Allah from their ascribing of partners to Him. 43 AND YET, if they [who refuse to see the truth] were to see part of the sky falling down, they would [only] say: "[It is but] a mass of clouds!" 44 so leave them alone till they face the Day on which they will be struck dumb, 45 and when their evil plans will be of no benefit to them nor will they be helped. 46 And surely those who are unjust shall have a punishment besides that (in the world), but most of them do not know. 47 So wait patiently (O Muhammad) for thy Lord's decree, for surely thou art in Our sight; and hymn the praise of thy Lord when thou uprisest, 48 and glorify Him after the setting of the stars. 49
