The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Merciful 1 It is He Who has taught the Qur'an. 2 Created man, 3 He hath taught him utterance. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration. 6 And the heaven He raised and imposed the balance 7 So that none may err against the scales, 8 Give just weight and do not skimp the scales. 9 And the earth hath He appointed for (His) creatures, 10 Therein is fruit and palm trees having sheaths [of dates] 11 And also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-scented plants. 12 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 13 He created man of fermented clay dried tinkling hard like earthen ware, 14 whereas the invisible beings He has created out of a confusing flame of fire. 15 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 16 Lord of the two easts and of the two wests is He. 17 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 18 He has set two seas in motion that flow side by side together, 19 between them a barrier they do not overpass. 20 (Jinn and mankind) - which of the favors of your Lord do you then deny? 21 Pearls and corals come from both. 22 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 23 And to Him belong the ships [with sails] elevated in the sea like mountains. 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
