The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ ABOUT WHAT do they [most often] ask one another? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Again, indeed, they shall know! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Surely a time is fixed for the Day of Judgement. 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
