The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 When the oceans boil over with a swell; 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 when the buried infant shall be asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 And when the pages are made public 10 And when the sky is stripped away 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and sit during the day, or by the darkening night 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 where then are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
