A group of his people who disbelieved him and had called the Day of Judgment a lie and whom We had made prosperous in this life, said, "He is a mere mortal like you. He eats and drinks as you do. 33 “If you were to obey a human like yourselves, then surely you are losers!” 34 Does he promise you that, after you have died and become [mere] dust and bones, you shall be brought forth [to a new life]? 35 ۞ Far-fetched, utterly far-fetched is what you are being promised. 36 “There is nothing except our life of this world, we die and we live, and we are not to be raised.” 37 "He is only a man who has invented a lie against Allah, but we are not going to believe in him." 38 The Messenger prayed, "Lord, help me; they have called me a liar". 39 God said, "Before long they will be filled with regret." 40 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead plants. So away with the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, disobedient to His Messengers, etc.). 41 Then, after them, We created other generations. 42 No nation can live beyond its allotted time, or lag behind. 43 Then We sent our messengers one after another. Whenever its messenger came unto a nation they denied him; so We caused them to follow one another (to disaster) and We made them bywords. A far removal for folk who believe not! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our Signs and a clear authority 45 To Pharaoh and his Chiefs: But these behaved insolently: they were an arrogant people. 46 And they said: What! shall we believe in two mortals like ourselves while their people serve us? 47 So they rejected them, calling them liars, and they too eventually became of those that were destroyed. 48 And indeed We gave Musa (Moses) the Scripture, that they may be guided. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign and sheltered them within a high ground having level [areas] and flowing water. 50
