Noah cried to Us, and how excellent was Our response! 75 And We delivered him and his followers from the mighty distress. 76 And We made his offspring the survivors. 77 And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations: 78 "Peace upon Noah among the worlds." 79 Even so We recompense the good-doers; 80 he was one of Our believing worshipers. 81 Then afterwards We drowned the rest. 82 ۞ Abraham was one of his followers. 83 When he came to his Lord with a sound heart 84 and asked his father and his people, "What is that you worship? 85 A lie-- gods besides Allah-- do you desire? 86 What do you think of the Lord of the Worlds' 87 Then he looked up at the stars (they worshipped), 88 And he said, "I am indeed sick (at heart)!" 89 and at that they turned their backs on him and went away. 90 Then he slipped unto their gods and said: eat ye not? 91 What ails you, that you speak not?' 92 And then he fell upon them, smiting them with his right hand. 93 whereupon people came to him running. 94 Abraham said to them: “Do you worship what you yourselves have carved with your own hands 95 when it is God who has created you and all your handiwork?" 96 They exclaimed: "Build a pyre for him, and cast him into the blazing fire!" 97 So they contrived a plot against him, but We made them abject. 98 And he said (after his rescue from the fire): "Verily, I am going to my Lord. He will guide me!" 99 Lord, grant me a righteous son." 100 We therefore gave him the glad tidings of an intelligent son. 101 And when he reached the age of traveling with him, he said: 'My son, while I was sleeping I saw that I shall slaughter (sacrifice) you, tell me what is your opinion' He replied: 'Father, do as you are ordered (by Allah). Allah willing, you shall find me one of those who are steadfast' 102 And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead, 103 We called unto him, 'Abraham, 104 thou hast confirmed the vision; even so We recompense the good-doers. 105 Verily that! that was a trial manifest. 106 And We ransomed him with a mighty sacrifice, 107 and left him thus to be succeeded by a group [of followers] among later generations: 108 "Peace and salutation to Abraham!" 109 That is how We reward those who do good. 110 Surely he was one of Our believing servants. 111 Then, We gave him the glad tidings of Isaac, a Prophet, one of the righteous, 112 We blessed him and Ishaque (Isaac), and of their progeny are (some) that do right, and some that plainly wrong themselves. 113
