The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And by those who float in space, 3 And by those that press forward as in a race (i.e. the angels or stars or the horses, etc.). 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Their eyes cast down. 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 even though we may have become [a heap of] crumbling bones?" 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has there reached you the story of Moses? - 15 When his Lord called to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 So he gathered the people, and proclaimed. 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
