The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth a resting place? 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
