He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 you attended to him, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 and in awe of God 9 You neglect. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 We send down abundant water, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 on that Day some faces will be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
