The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Who insist on being given full when they take from others, 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 For a mighty day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 Ah! what will convey unto thee what Sijjin is! - 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 those who deny the Day of Judgement. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 Then it shall be said to them, 'This is that you cried lies to.' 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 a written record, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Truly the Righteous will be in Bliss: 22 On thrones, they shall gaze; 23 You will recognise in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 And when they returned to their people, they would return jesting. 31 And when they saw them they said: Lo! these have gone astray. 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 while reclining on couches and reviewing (the bounties given to them). 35 Are not the disbelievers paid (fully) for what they used to do? 36
