۞ When the example of Mary's son is quoted before them, your people cry out at it, 57 and say: 'What, are our gods better, or is he?' They do not mention him to you except to dispute, truly, they are a contentious nation. 58 (Jesus) was only a creature whom We favoured and made an example for the children of Israel. 59 If We pleased We could have put angels in place of you as trustees on the earth. 60 He is a sign of the Hour. Have no doubt about it. But follow me. This is a straight path; 61 And let not the Satan hinder you; verily he is unto you an enemy manifest. 62 And when Isa came with clear arguments he said: I have come to you indeed with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you part of what you differ in; so be careful of (your duty to) Allah and obey me: 63 Lo! Allah, He is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him. This is a right path. 64 But the factions differed among themselves. Woe alas to the sinners for the torment of the grievous Day! 65 Do they wait for aught but the hour, that it should come! upon them all of a sudden while they do not perceive? 66 Friends on that day shall be foes to one another, but the god-fearing. 67
