In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
O you (Prophet Muhammad) wrapped, 1 Stand up for worship during the night, except for some part of it. 2 half of it, or reduce it a little; 3 and recite the Quran in a distinct tone; 4 We shall soon entrust to you a message heavy (with solemnity). 5 Surely the rising by night is the firmest way to tread and the best corrective of speech. 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 And remember thou the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with an exclusive devotion. 8 The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, 9 Bear with patience what they say, and gracefully come away from them. 10 Leave the prosperous disbelievers to Me and give them respite for a little while; 11 for, behold, heavy fetters [await them] with Us, and a blazing fire, 12 and food that chokes, and a painful chastisement, 13 on the Day when the earth and the mountains will be convulsed and the mountains will [crumble and] become like a sand-dune on the move! 14 We have indeed sent a Noble Messenger towards you, a present witness over you – the way We had sent a Noble Messenger towards Firaun. 15 But Firon disobeyed the apostle, so We laid on him a violent hold. 16 If you disbelieve, how will you guard yourself against the Day that will make children gray haired, 17 The heaven will split asunder with its grief; the promise of Allah will surely occur. 18 Surely this is a Reminder; so let him who will take unto his Lord a way. 19
