The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is overthrown, 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was slain, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 So verily, I swear by the planets that recede (i.e. disappear during the day and appear during the night). 15 The planets withdrawing into themselves, 16 by the night swarming, 17 by the dawn sighing, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 He (Muhammad) is not accused of lying about the unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
