Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HA MIM. 1 This (Qur’an) is sent down from the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. 2 A Book of which the verses are made plain, an Arabic Quran for a people who know: 3 As a giver of good tidings and a warner; but most of them turn away, so they do not hear. 4 And they say, “Our hearts are covered against the affair you call us to, and there is deafness in our ears, and there is a barrier between us and you – therefore mind your own business, we are minding ours.” 5 Say thou, [O Prophet:] "I am but a mortal like you. It has been revealed to me that your God is the One God: go, then, straight towards Him and seek His forgiveness!" And woe unto those who ascribe divinity to aught beside Him, 6 Those who do not give the obligatory charity, and who deny the Hereafter. 7 "The ones who believe and perform good deeds shall have a reward which will never be withheld from them." 8
