A (goodly) number from those of old, 39 And a numerous company from among the last. 40 As for the Companions of the Left 41 Will be in the scorching wind and boiling water, 42 And in the shades of Black Smoke: 43 Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please: 44 Verily they have been heretofore affluent. 45 and they persisted obstinately in awful sin, 46 And they used to say: When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again, 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients?' 48 Say (O Muhammad SAW): "(Yes) verily, those of old, and those of later times. 49 will indeed be gathered together at an appointed time on a Day known [only to God]: 50 Then indeed you, O those astray [who are] deniers, 51 you will indeed have to taste of the tree of deadly fruit, 52 filling your bellies, with it 53 Then drink over it of boiling water; 54 You shall drink it as the thirsty camels drink." 55 That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense! 56 We created you, then why do you believe not? 57 Have you ever considered that [seed] which you emit? 58 did you create it or did We? 59 We have ordained death among you and We are not to be overcome, 60 To transfigure you and create you in (forms) that you know not. 61 And [since] you are indeed aware of the [miracle of your] coming into being in the first instance - why, then, do you not bethink yourselves [of Us]? 62 See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? 63 Is it you who makes it grow, or are We the grower? 64 If We so wished, We could have reduced your harvest to rubble, and you would have been left wonder-struck to exclaim: 65 Lo! we are laden with debt! 66 nay; we have been undone!” 67 Did you cast a good look at the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who brought it down from the clouds or is it We Who brought it down? 69 We could make it brackish, if We pleased; so why do you not acknowledge thanks? 70 See ye the Fire which ye kindle? 71 Is it you who made the tree thereof to grow, or are We the Grower? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 So glorify the name of your Lord, the Supreme. 74

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
