The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
