The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas are set afire. 6 When souls are reunited (with the bodies) 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 When the world on High is unveiled; 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 [on that Day] every human being will come to know what he has prepared [for himself]. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 by the night when it approaches 17 and the morning when it extends, 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Your companion is not mad. 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 he is not niggardly of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 To whomsoever among you who wills to walk straight, 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
