The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and At-Tariq (the night-comer, i.e. the bright star); 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 issuing between the loins and the breast-bones. 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And the earth which opens up (with verdure), 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 It is no pleasantry. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 but I shall bring all their scheming to nought. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
